On any given day 54,000 North Dakotans rely on SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) to put food on their table. SNAP is set to be reauthorized in the 2018 Farm Bill. Based on past Farm Bills and what we are hearing from Congress, we expect the program will be at risk of significant cuts and damaging policy changes.
It is crucial to send a strong message to our federal delegation that SNAP is important to North Dakota. That's where we need your help. We have launched a virtual postcard campaign in conjunction with a traditional postcard campaign, to be hand delivered to our federal delegation at the end of February 2018.
Please take a moment to fill out the virtual postcard below. Your voice will be added to a growing list of North Dakotans urging our Senators to protect and strengthen SNAP.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to Melissa Sobolik at msobolik@greatplainsfoodbank.org.
Dear Senators Heitkamp and Hoeven,
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) bridges the gap for children, seniors, veterans and people with disabilities who are facing tough times and struggling to put food on the table. SNAP helps 1 in 14 North Dakotans have the fuel they need to learn, work and thrive.
SNAP is good for our families, our seniors and our state. I ask you to stand up for the 54,000 North Dakotans who count on SNAP!
SNAP is important to North Dakota and to me.
Sincerely,
